Francois Razon

Bio:

Francois Razon was born in Paris, France in 1978. He works as a freelance documentary photographer. At the age of 17, he developed a passion for images while working in the darkroom. This passion eventually grew and expanded into capturing images in the field. After completing his scientific degree, he started his career as an intern with VSD magazine in Paris. While on assignment in Cote d’Ivoire (also known as Ivory Coast), he found himself in the middle of the first civil war in 2002 as fighting broke out from which he developed his first personal project covering the civil unrest. He then moved and lived extensively in South America and Australasia working as a commercial photographer before coming to London 10 years ago. Since then he has worked as a freelance photographer for magazines and local NGOs, covering natural disasters and humanitarian crisis. He is deeply motivated by his work when it comes to engaging with the human condition in these times of helplessness and conflict. It is the story of each individual and not the situation that inspires him to piece together an engaging view that will trigger a response to the struggle of these people, place and events.
