Suvra Kanti Das at Sony Awards
Thousands of Hindu devotees sits with Prodip and prays during the Rakher Upobash.
We are extremely happy to announce that UnFrame Photographer Suvra Kanti Das has been shortlisted for the Sony Photography Awards 2014 edition, undoubtetly the most prestigious and participated photography contest of the year.
Selected from 139,544 images from 166 countries, Suvra’s outstanding work ‘Rakher Upobash’ tells the story of thousands of Hindu devotees praying for the saint Lokenath Brahmachar during the traditional ritual called Kartik Brati or Rakher Upobash.
According to World Photography Organization the works selected by the jury perfoermed “an eclectic shortlist representing the very finest in international contemporary photography from 2013.
The judges found within the submissions many stories that force the viewer to find something surprising within the everyday. Well-documented scenes were approached with fresh and ground-breaking photography styles and are set to inspire other photographers around the world”
All shortlist images will be presented at Somerset House, London from 1-18 May as part of the 2014 Sony World Photography Awards Exhibition
