Bio:
Andrei Riskin was born in Moscow, Russia. Continuing family tradition he graduated with Master’s degree with emphasis on large-scale energy production and distribution systems in 1997. Few months later he moved to the United States where he worked in Silicon Valley as a software engineer for two years.
In 2001 Andrei traded the comfort of cubical environment for a career of a freelance event and documentary photographer.
Andrei’s work includes several photo projects such as “Polk Street” (inspired by SF’s “Red Light District” of the 1980’s), “Old man’s place” (introduces the viewer to the working lives of caregivers), “The Mass” (photographed inside the old Laguna Honda Hospital in San Francisco, it’s a story of patience and belief) and “Uman and Amen” (a multimedia piece about Chasidic Jews visiting Ukraine for the New Year).
